Not Trash - I love when you walk by and find the strangest things just… there. Who left a flower on the trash can? Why did they leave it? Where did they get the darn thing (this was near a supermarket… but I couldn’t find any other flowers like this around for sale) and why did they leave it there? Such a great story that I’ll never know, but grabs my attention anyway.
All the colors of the rainbow. Discovery Building, you rock. Took this back in September I think, but just got it uploaded now.
What is it about the full spectrum of the rainbow that really brings out the smiling little kid in everyone?
Smokin’ Zombie Potion - It’s all un-dead fun and games until somebody takes a sip… and then it’s smoking dry ice filled booze!
Taking photos of smoking things is harder than I thought it would be… but also quite worth the results. Check out the close up.
Lazy Caturday, Sleepin’ In - Some days, it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed. Most of those days are when I wake up to this cute face purr-snoring at me and it’s hard to face the rest of the world… because, let’s be real here, the rest of the world just isn’t this adorable this early in the morning.
Halfway to Fall? - I actually took this a couple of weeks ago, but around here in the DC metro area, there really hasn’t been much in the way of fall color, so this might be it for us.
Choose Your Path - An exercise in framing different settings in a similar way. Isn’t it interesting that just making the option to walk in a direction clear in the photo, all the sudden you put yourself in the image, in the story, and you wonder what would happen if you walked down that row of fences, wandered into that horse barn, or sat down on that porch chair. What might you see? Who might you meet? Are there surprises just beyond the photo’s frame? Well of course.
Worlds Hidden in My Back Yard - Walking by the bramble bits that over hang and over take the path and seeing such glee and intertwined chaos and color.
Public Art #3 - From the same walk the other day, this was in front of an area art collective. I didn’t see a description near it, so I couldn’t tell you the artist or title. It was pretty cool though, all moving in the wind. Sort of like a bike part Calder mobile/stabile. (If you don’t know what that is… go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Calder#Sculpture)
Happy to Seat You - Chilling on the porch this labor day weekend, this is the couch that greeted me… and it really appeared surprisingly happy to do so. With childlike glee I took this picture, thinking of how much a 6 year old me would have laughed and laughed at this cushion. So very Beauty and the Beast, no? Never forget the things that made you smile as a child, and never stop noticing them. They’re everywhere, you just have to look. Smile!
Hydrangea? Purple Something Pretty - One of many gorgeous flowers I found in my travels earlier this summer. I liked that this one appears only half bloomed… it’s a bit like it’s got a little white picket fence around a pretty purple porch. I’m not really a flower person, so I can only say it looks slightly Hydrangea-ish to me? There were actual Hydrangea around it which I’ll get around to posting my photos of eventually.
